Marvin E. Van Hercke 87, passed away at his home on Sunday July, 23, 2017. Marvin was a man with immeasurable honor, integrity, and a good heart. He was a very loving son and brother and took great pride in his four children. Family was always among his highest priorities.
Marvin was born in Shawnee Kansas and lived his entire life in the Kansas City area. He proudly served in Korea as a Corporal in the Marine Corps. Marvin worked in the elevator construction industry until his retirement in 1992.
He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Mary Olivia, 3 brothers Kenneth, Raymond Jr., and Edward. Marvin is survived by his sister Nadine Flint, sons Mark (Dixie), Kenneth (Belinda), daughters Donna Markham (Steve) all of Kansas City, and Karen Van Hercke of Ft. Worth TX. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and one great granddaughter on the way. He also leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A visitation is set for 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26 at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203, where a rosary recitation will be at 6:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
