Mary Frances Angell, age 99, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2008. Mary Frances was born in January, 1909, in Howard County, Missouri, to the late W. E. and Bertha Magruder. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1927. She married William Haines Angell on October 5, 1929, and raised two sons, William Haines Angell II, and Robert Lee Angell. Mary and William and their family lived in several towns over the next few years, including Rocheport, Missouri; Columbia, Missouri; El Dorado, Kansas; and Overland Park, Kansas. While living in Columbia, Missouri, Mary managed the Hathman House tea room for two years. In 1969 William and Mary retired to Sunrise Beach, Missouri at the Lake of the Ozarks where William operated a Key and Lock Service. Mary moved to Shawnee, Kansas in 1980.

Mary was a 50+ year member of Overland Park Christian Church, an active member of Rho Sigma chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a life member of American Legion Post 370 in Overland Park, and a life member of the Friends of Rocheport.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William Haines Angell in 1978, her grandson, David Earl Angell, in 1956, her mother in 1972 and her father in1976. She is survived by her sons, William Haines Angell II of Overland Park, Kansas, and Robert Lee Angell & Carolyn Angell of Gravois Mills, Missouri. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Debbie Simpson of Perris, California; Sandra Tally of Lenexa, Kansas, Susan Walker of Cleveland, Missouri, Terri Zura of Renton, Washington, Robert Angell of Kansas City, Kansas, Mary Schultz of Edgewood, Washington, Vicki Friedberg of Clinton Mississippi, and Cathy Angell of Edgewood, Washington. She was also the proud great-grandmother of 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation and Graveside Services

Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m., Monday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Graveside services will be at Memorial Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W, Columbia, Missouri, at 11 a.m., Tuesday.
