Mary Catherine “Cappy” Becker

Mary Catherine "Cappy" Becker, 94, Lenexa, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Lakeview Village Care Center, Lenexa, Kansas.

Mary Catherine was born February 2, 1918, in Kansas City, Kansas, to John F. and Margaret (Spath) Hardy. She will forever be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, for the authentic and honest way in which she lived her life, for her spirit of generosity, positive attitude, and for her loving and forgiving heart. She was truly a woman of faith, who led by example.

"Cappy" was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, of 68 years, George F. Becker, son, Richard J. Becker, two brothers, Jay Hardy and Jack Hardy and two sisters, Gertrude Gudenkauf and Margaret O'Connor.

She leaves behind two daughters, Suzanne and husband, Dave, Chelesnik of San Diego, California, Kathy Becker Sokol and Alex Sokol of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Becker of Raymore, Missouri; son, John R. "Bob" Becker of Lowry City, Missouri. Cappy had six grandchildren, Debbie Chelesnik, Jon and wife, Amy Chelesnik, Karen and husband, Randy Schuster, Sharon Becker Griggs and husband, Gary Griggs, Theresa Becker, Brian Becker; three great grandchildren, Cassandra and husband, Matt Phillips, Shaun Schuster, and Ryan Chelesnik.

Cappy's light shined brightly on this earth for nearly 95 years. She will be missed beyond measure.

Cremation is planned with a Memorial Mass to be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2012 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Private family inurnment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
