Mary E. Benbrook

Mary Elaine Benbrook, 63, of Blue Mound, Kansas, passed away July 27, 2013.

Mary was born September 27, 1949, in Heber Springs, Akansas, to Sherman and Myrtle (Griggs) Sneed. She began her nursing career as an R.N. in 1979. Her successful 33 year career included E.R., Teaching, and many Associations including serving as President of the Kansas State Nursing Association and Shawnee Mission Medical Center Employee of the Year. In her retirement years, she loved to garden and dedicated her life to ensuring quality elderly care as a Kansas state Ombudsman.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jerry; her step-father Earl Sprung (Mary Ellen); brother Don Farris Sneed; daughter Tonya Stancer, son Joseph Stancer (Shannon); stepson Clifford Benbrook (Theresa), stepdaughter Cristin Fuller (Matt); and 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Shawnee, Kansas.
