Mary Louise Blair, 91, of Shawnee, KS, passed away on Wednesday, May 12 at her home. She was born on August 2, 1929 in Norborne, MO, the daughter of Hilary Boland and Clara Morfeld Boland.
Mary was raised on a farm during the Depression and World War 2 and learned the value of hard work and education. She later instilled these values in her children every chance she had. At one point she worked as a teacher in a one room school house and later as an accountant. She fostered numerous babies through Catholic Charities. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and made many of the clothes for the family. She loved taking care of her garden and flowers. Around 1980, she discovered Navarre Beach in Florida, fell in love with it, visited there at least once a year, and shared it with her growing family, many of whom will very likely carry on that love of Navarre Beach. She will be remembered as very strong willed and proud of all of her children and the large family they have become.
Mary was married to John R. Alden on July 7, 1984 in Lenexa, KS until her passing. Prior to her marriage to John Alden she was married to George Dewey Blair the father of their 9 children on May 17, 1951 in Shackleford, MO until his passing on March 4, 1978.
She is survived by her husband John R. Alden of Shawnee; nine children and their spouses, Marilyn Banks, George Vincent Blair (Linda), Jennifer Lance-Peimann (John), Kevin Blair (Debbie), Laura Smith (James), Sean Blair (Marsha), Andrew Blair, Erin Blair (Steve), and Tara Blair Hyder (Kevin): a brother Raymond Boland; two sisters Alice Kornhaus and Suzanne Fuchs; 27 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hilary and Clara Boland; three sisters Geraldine Boland, Kathleen (Kitty) Maxine Boland Malan, Edith Stephens; and her first husband George Dewey Blair.
