Mary Nan Crowther

Mary Nan (McKeever) Crowther, 87, Lenexa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Lakeview Village Eastside Terrace, Lenexa, Kansas.

Mary Nan Crowther was born January 1, 1925, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Miles Philip and Nan Ellen (Worley) McKeever. On September 8, 1946, Nanwas married to Robert Hamblett Crowther, son of Louis Everett and Julia Emeline (Hamblett) Crowther. Nan and Bob lived in many places during their marriage of 65 years-although they lived in several places in their early years of marriage (including about 15 years in Crown Point, Indiana), they have lived in the Kansas City area for the past 43 years since 1969.

Nan is preceded in death by her husband Robert Crowther on February 19, 2012, daughter Barbara Lynn Crowther, October 1957, and brother, Hugh Brady McKeever, October 1996. She is survived by her three children, Philip Everett Crowther and wife, Janet, Wichita, Kansas, Deborah Marie Ross and husband, Allan, Overland Park, Kansas, and Hugh Gordon Crowther, Prairie Village, Kansas; three grandchildren, Jason Crowther and wife, Nan, Lisa Crowther, and Lindsey (Ross) Hogrefe and husband, Andrew; and three great grandchildren, Pierson and Emily Crowther, and James Hogrefe.

Nan's interest was history, genealogy and geology. Nan was a member of Shawnee Mission Chapter of the Daughter's of the American Revolution, serving as Chapter Regent as well as Kansas State Chairman, Northeast Director. She was also a member of William Hilton Chapter of which she served as Chapter Regent as well as the State Office position of Chaplain and Registrar.

Hobbies included writing about history and giving programs on various subjects to the above chapters and others. Nan wrote several books: Ireland, and Precious Heritage about Kansas history and famous people.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday, November 30, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a Rosary recitation will be at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Stone Chapel; burial in the Resurrection Cemetery.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 1, 2012, with a Celebration of Life reception to follow at the Treetop Room at Lakeview Village, Southridge, Lenexa, Kansas

Memorial contributions may be made to Cure of Ars School Library or Johnson County Genealogy Section.
