Mary Louise Dark, 80, of Merriam, KS passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at her home.
Mary was born September 13, 1936 to the late Donald and Lou Smith in Johnson County, KS. She graduated from Argentine High School in 1954 and went on to attend the University of Kansas. While attending KU, Mary met the love of her life, Palmer, on a blind date. They were married October 12, 1957, in the Danforth Chapel on campus. Mary was a member of Trinity Anglican Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved to travel with her husband, family and friends. Mary was a member of Country Coach Heartlanders and Country Coach International. Her favorite country to visit was New Zealand. While she was able, Mary was an avid bowler and was on three separate leagues. Mary will always be remembered for her knitting, sense of humor and enjoyed the title of Master Joke teller.
Mary is survived by her loving husband Palmer; a daughter, Janine Mayhew and husband Michael; a son, James Dark and wife Rainbow; 2 brothers, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Mary's life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Amos Family Funeral Home.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Trinity Anglican Church, 3920 W. 63rd Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208 or to The Salvation Army, 3637 Broadway Street, Kansas City, MO 64111.
