Mary B. Duncan, 101, Shawnee died October 23, 2021, at The Village at Mission Assisted Living in Prairie Village.
She was born in Valley Falls, Kansas, to Henry and Mary Bodde. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 27 years, retiring in 1991. Previously, she had worked for Providence Hospital, Hallmark Cards, and other employers.
She was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and had previously been an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a faithful participant in the Adoration Chapel at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons, John (Patsy) Duncan of Kansas City, Missouri, and Michael (Terry) Duncan of San Diego, California, her sister Geraldine Sullivan, her niece and nephew, Barbara Weaver and Ronald Sullivan, her grandchildren Paul Duncan, Noah Duncan, Rosa Duncan, and Nadia Duncan, and many other nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 43 years, John Duncan, and her sisters Lillian Bodde and Beatrice Rafanelli, and her brother John Henry Bodde.
Mary was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, loyal to those she loved, and was feisty.
The family would like to thank the aides and nurses at The Village at Mission and Catholic Charities Hospice for their devoted and loving care in her last years.
The visitation will be 10:30-11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. The mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial immediately after at St. Joseph Cemetery, Shawnee, Kansas.
The family suggests contributions to Good Shepherd Catholic Church or Catholic Charities of Kansas City St. Joseph.
