Mary Elizabeth Fanska

Mary E. Fanska, 83, Overland Park, Kansas passed away May 29th at Garden Terrace.  Mary was born on April 28,1937 in Kansas City, Mo and lived her life in and around surrounding areas.  Mary was a kindhearted. loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.  She had a passion for bowling and showed it by bowling 2-3 times a week while doing so she met many others that shared her love for the game who became lifelong friends.  She also loved the food service industry and the customers loved her back.  Many people would come into the bowling center just for her homemade lunch specials.  From 2011 until her husband’s death in 2014, Mary spent her time as his caregiver.  After he passed, Mary was never the same.  Mary spent the last 3-4 years suffering with dementia and Alzheimer's at a senior care facility.  While there she unfortunately passed away due to the Covid-19.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 37 years Carl Fanska, Daughter Donna Carlton and twin grandson Justin and Tyler.  She is survived by daughter Deb (Larry) Wilson, son Robert Shipps, grandchildren Dawayne (Amanda) Wilson, Kelly (Jake) Smith, Steven (Crystal) Bickel, Zach (Megan) Shipps, Kyle Shipps; great grandchildren,  Taylor (Josh) and Marley Smith, Devin and Alyvia Wilson, Sydnie Calovich, Mason and Zoe Shipps; great-great grandchildren Lilah and Lucas Bullock;  sisters, Charlene Dougan, Pat Hutton, Francis, Helen, Edna and Diane; brothers Jimmie Floyd and Terry Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Amos Family Funeral Home.

Restrictions

Please be aware that due to COVID-19 and safety precautions, we are limiting the number of people in our chapel to 45 for the funeral service. We will be rotating people through the chapel during the visitation as best as we can if more than 45 people are in at once. We ask that people respect and comply with social distancing.
