Mary "Elaine" Harper Galliart, 92, of Olathe, Kansas, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 29, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Beloved mother of Elizabeth (Greg) Eckes of Fridley, MN; Herb Galliart, Jr. (Virginia) of Anthony, NM; Mary (Steven) Pelosi of Monroe, NY; Sarah (Marshall) Dietz of Overland Park, KS; Jeanne (Geoff) Gawdun of Topeka, KS; Dorothy (Jason) Malsbury of Lawrence, KS; Roland Galliart (Barbara) of Leavenworth, KS; and Alice (Marvin Callander) of Callaway, MD.

Beloved grandmother of Stephanie, Olivia, Katrina, Nicholas, Bridget, Lucy, Michelle, Geoffrey, Nick, Mary, Thomas, Joseph, Catherine, Noah, Zachary, Katie, Anthony, Abigail, Kaitlyn, Kristen, Hannah and Nicholas.

Beloved great-grandmother of Kylie, Lucas, Jason and Emily.

Elaine is also survived by her beloved cousin Ben Nicks, sisters-in-law Eileen Galliart and Evelyn Galliart, niece Neely Harper Gal, nephews John Galliart, Kevin Galliart, Mark Galliart and Doug Galliart as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Elaine was born in Chicago, IL to Roland and Mary (Frost) Harper.  She was a resident of Santa Marta where she resided for the past ten years.  Raised in Shawnee, KS, Elaine graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1942, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, KS and her Master's degree from UMKC.  She was a former Director of Religious Education for several parishes in the Archdiocese of Kansas City, KS.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, reading, the theater, music, the KC Royals and her occasional glass of Mogen David wine.  She was also a published author.

She travelled extensively through the United States and Europe, where she enjoyed visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a secular oblate of St. Benedict for St. Benedict's Abbey in Atchison, KS since 1946, and was active in various lay ministries throughout her life.

A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd at 6:00 pm, followed by visitation until 8:00 pm at The Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS.  A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, (temporarily located at 11525 Johnson Drive in the brick building with blue awnings), Shawnee, KS followed by interment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 61st and Quivira Rd., Shawnee, KS.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203-2700 or to Benedictine College, 1020 North 2nd Street, Atchison, KS 66002.
