Mary Lougene Geary

August 1, 1933 — May 25, 2023

Mary Lougene Geary, a vibrant woman who embraced life to the fullest, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on May 25, 2023 in Overland Park, Kansas. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, generosity, and a love for life that touched the hearts of all those fortunate enough to know her.

Born on August 1, 1933, Lougene, as she was known by family and friends, was the daughter of Richard Francis Eads and Sadie Mae (Kerr) Eads. Lougene grew up on a farm in Coats Kansas but lived her adult life in the Kansas City area. Lougene and her first husband, Tony had two sons, Mark and Clark.

Lougene had a thirst for life and a passion for dance and creating works of art. She immersed herself in various creative endeavors and found joy in dancing, painting, quilting, sewing, and even designing some clothing. Her artistic talents were truly remarkable, and she showcased her unique designs through trunk shows, exhibitions and the Johnson County Fair. She generously shared her time and sewing expertise with her family.

She had a generous spirit and her kindness extended to providing support for family and her community. Her giving nature was a testament to her selflessness and unwavering love for her family and friends.

Throughout her life, Lougene dedicated herself to teaching and inspiring others. She was an active member of the 4H organization in her younger years and enjoyed sharing her passion for painting with young learners.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, artist, teacher, and friend. Her legacy of creativity, generosity and embrace of life will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. While we mourn the loss of this woman, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever dance in our hearts.
