Mary Virginia Malone, 84, Shawnee, KS passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Sweet Life at Brookdale, Shawnee, KS. Mary was born June 17, 1930 in Kansas City, MO to John T. and Beatrice C. Currigan. She attended Hogan High School. Mary was executive secretary for the Carpenters District Council of Kansas City and Vicinity for 30 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and active in the St. Joseph Catholic Church. On Oct. 13, 1951, Mary married John "Jack" Malone. He was in the Army Corp of Engineers, stationed in England where their first two children were born. Mary and Jack enjoyed traveling and were able to visit many different places after retirement.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John R. "Jack" Malone on March 20, 2004, two sisters, Beatrice Young and Martina Jarnevic, and brother, J. Thomas Currigan. Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne M. (Chris) Grys, Lenexa, KS; four sons, Robert J. Malone, Edmonds, WA, William J. (Debra) Malone, Liberty, MO, Thomas M. (Susan) Malone, Prairie Village, KS, and Gregory J. (Catherine) Malone, Dallas, TX; three sisters, Rita Mills, Leawood, KS, Marjorie Carpenter, Dallas, TX and Christine Keen, Stanley, KS; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren expected in January.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in the Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a rosary recitation will be at 6:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
