In loving memory of Mary Marie Halaschak, affectionately known as "Honey," we are saddened to announce her passing on January 30, 2025, in Ottawa, Kansas, at the age of 77. Born on July 22, 1947, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Mary was a dedicated employee of the Hobart Township Assessors Office until her retirement. After which she and Bill moved to Kansas City to be near her Daughter and Son-in-law. In her leisure time, she found joy in crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, reading, sewing, chatting with her Lady friends, and indulging in computer games and countless internet shenanigans. Her vibrant spirit, quick wit, and honest opinions were well-known to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A proud member of the American Legion Post 454, Mary valued community and camaraderie. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wm (Bill) Halaschak; her parents, John B. Cadwallader and Violet Marie (Modis) Cadwallader; her brothers, John (Genia) Harker and Gary (Patty) Cadwallader; her sister, Linda (Larry) Lambert; her grandson, Ryan Thews; her brother-in-law, Jerry (Kathy) Thompson; and her nephew, Jerry Tamagni.

Mary leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her son, Daniel (Rita) Thews; her daughter, Vickie (Gregory) Cornett; her son, Anthony (Moneka) Smith; her sisters, Kathy (Chris) Thompson and Bonnie (Billy) Lyon; and her granddaughter, Alyse Thews. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on through them.

In accordance with her wishes, Mary chose to forego any formal services. She requested simply to be reunited with her loving husband at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, surrounded by those she loved dearly.

Mary's warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
