Mary T. Murphy

Mary Theresa Murphy, 52, of Olathe, KS, died at 6:23 pm, Saturday, January 4, 2014 of pneumonia at Olathe Medical Center CCU. She was born July 10, 1961 in Panama to Kenneth O. and Betty L. Shriver. She married Michael K. Murphy on June 10, 2006.

Mary is survived by her husband, Michael K. Murphy; her step-son, Tyson D. Murphy of Manhattan, NY; one sister, Ann McCarraher (Dave) of Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law, Suzanne Shriver of Shreveport, LA; four brothers, David (Jane) of Olathe, KS, Christopher (Lisa) of Shawnee, KS, Mark (Gina) of Grandview, MO and Peter (Terri) of Springfield, MO.

Mary is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth O. Shriver; her mother, Betty L. Shriver; and her brother, Kenneth P. Shriver.

Mary received her Bachelor's degree from Mid America Nazarene and was a career professional project manager at Sprint for over 25 years.

Mary loved people and especially children. She spent a lot of time with her nieces and nephews as they were growing up. She loved to care for them, take them places and buy them gifts. She also carried that love over to the small children in her neighborhood. She always made sure her coworkers were recognized for their efforts, service anniversaries, birthdays and special occasions.

Mary was very crafty and loved to make things with her hands. She was a big NASCAR fan and attended races around the country. She liked to travel with her husband, Michael. They spent spring breaks in Cancun and attended Corvette rallies. She also loved animals and spoiled a lot of cats over the years. Mary had a big heart and we will miss her laughter, love and care.

A Prayer Service will be held at 4:30pm on Friday, January 10th, 2014 at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory. A visitation will be held after the Prayer Service for family and friends from 5:00-7:00pm. The funeral service for the family will be held at a later date. Her cremated remains will be buried near her mother in Osawatomie Cemetery, in Osawatomie, Kansas.
