Mary M. Payne

Mary M. Payne, 95, Shawnee, Kansas, died June 2, 2012, at Shawnee Gardens with her family at her side.

She was born to Joseph H. and Mary Ann Zahner on March 6, 1917, in Shawnee and was a lifelong resident. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lloyd J. Payne, by her parents, and 12 brothers and sisters. Mary is survived by her daughter Lorraine Hoefler and husband Charles; son David Payne and wife Nancy; grandsons Chuck and Wendy Hoefler, Bill and Sheryl Hoefler, David M., and Kenny L. Payne; and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Karly, Shelton, and Grace Hoefler.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The Rosary will be recited at 6 pm. Mass will be held at 10 am, Friday, June 9, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas, with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery.

Contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the American Heart Association or to Hospice Care of Kansas.
