Mary G. (Clements) Roos, 93, of Shawnee, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Mary was born February 2, 1920, to the late Ralph and Edna Clements in Pittsburg, Kansas. Mary attended St. Mary's College and completed her nurses training at Providence Hospital. On August 29, 1941, she married Eugene Roos in Pittsburg, Kansas. She served as the nurse for Head Start of Shawnee Mission for 15 years before retiring in 1985, and also worked as the substitute school nurse for St. Joseph Grade School. Mary was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society, Resurrection Choir, Respite Care Committee and served on the Parish Council of St. Joseph Church in 1970 and again in 1982. Mary was a member of the ANA, the Pink Ladies, and the Johnson County UNO's.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband in May of 1970. She is survived by her eight children, Dave Roos and wife Marcia; Frank Roos and wife Lee Ann; Sylvia Crider and husband Jerry; Mary Sciortino and husband Ben; Phil Roos and wife Rose; Larry Roos and wife Mary Jo; Barbara Zanatta and husband Joe; John Roos and wife Shelly; 18 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.

Memorial Contributions

The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to the St. Joseph Grade School Technology Fund or to the St. Joseph Parish Adoration Chapel.
