Mary Catherine “Cathy” Russell, 60, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away on August 13, 2013, at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa. Cathy passed away after a lifelong battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
Cathy was born on December 27, 1952, to Keith and Louise Witt. She attended the University of Kansas and received her Bachelor's degree in Education with an emphasis in English. She had a passion for teaching and over the course of her career was a teacher, substitute and a para-professional for disabled children.
Cathy is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Shelbi Russell of Boston, Massachusetts, and Kelsie (Travis) Hamburg of Kansas City, Missouri; siblings, Marjorie (Patrick) Stevens-Werly, Phil Witt, Suzie (Kevin) Santaularia and Tom (Paula) Witt.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 4-6pm and the Memorial Service will follow at 6pm. The family will celebrate Cathy's life with a dinner provided during the visitation.
The family suggests flowers be sent to the funeral home or donations in Cathy's name be made to Gentiva Hospice (formerly Odyssey Hospice).
