Mary Magdalen Stevermer

Mary Magdalen Stevermer, 56, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born the eldest of nine children, May 9, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late George and Mildred Bryde. Mary graduated high school from Bishop Hogan High School in 1974 and received a Bachelor's degree in literature from the University of Chicago in 1978.

Mary was a loving mother, gourmet chef, creative spirit, as well as a talented pianist and organist. She enjoyed celebrating the Mass through music at Holy Rosary, St. Joseph, and Annunciation Catholic Churches in the Kansas City area. Mary was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served on the Pastoral Council and shared her voice with the Hosanna Choir.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Kim Stevermer; two sons, Owen and Gene Stevermer; a daughter, Klara Stevermer; three sisters, Eva Betts; Angela Connelly and husband Dan; Emily McClernon and husband Joe; four brothers, John Bryde, Joe Bryde, Phil Bryde, and George Bryde.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the church. Inurnment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Stevermer Children College Fund, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.
