Mary C. Twigg

Mary Clare Twigg (nee Wheeler) passed away June 1, 2023.

She was born on May 31, 1924 in Marysville, KS, and lived in Kansas for much of her adult life. Mary graduated from the nursing program at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. during WWII and provided care for more than 50 years before retiring from Shawnee Mission Hospital in 1999.

Mary Clare will be dearly missed by all who knew her as her usual good mood made her a pleasure to be around. Positive, charitable, kind and always interested in others. Blessed with a great sense of humor, she laughed a lot and is part of many fun memories. Her adventurous side showed in her many trips both in and out of the country with friends and her children. She also stayed up on current events - Go Dems! Go Royals! Go Chiefs!

Mary was an independent woman and a great role model. She provided her family a firm foundation and set a loving example that included strength, understanding, forgiveness , being non judgemental, and rooted in spiritual values. Her 99 years were packed with
goodness - truly a life well-lived.

She was preceded in death by her sons Thomas (Wendy), Jon, and Jeff (Laura); survivors include her daughter Cheri (Harry) Murphy, sons Steve (Vikki) and Jim (Monica McNamara). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at Amos Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas on Friday, June 9 at 11:00am.
