Mary Alice (Van Lerberg) Viscek

Mary Alice (Van Lerberg) Viscek, 92, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2022 surrounded by her family in her home. She was born on June 1, 1930 in Shawnee, Kansas to Paul and Madeline (Le Fevre) Van Lerberg. She was the only daughter of five children, and she was the last remaining Van Lerberg of her generation. Mary Alice grew up on a truck farm where she learned to take care of the home. She attended St. Joseph High School and graduated in 1948. On June 26, 1954 she married Charles Viscek in Shawnee. Together they had 3 children, Charles, Madeline and Angela.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Viscek; parents; brothers Albert, Richard, Dale and Clarence; and a grandson, Nicholas Viscek.

Mary Alice is survived by her children; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and countless friends and family members who will miss her dearly.

Services will take place on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 with a Visitation from 9:30-10:45 am, a Rosary prayed at 10:45 am, and Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, all at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas. Mary Alice will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas, following mass.
