Heaven gained another angel as Mary Ann (Dickinson )Walters, age 91, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Mary Ann was born in Fostoria, Kansas to Clarence and Cora Dickinson as the second of two daughters. She attended Kansas State University where she met her husband Ray. The two never missed the opportunity to dance to their favorite songs, the Tennessee Waltz and Moonlight Serenade. They were married for 43 years before he passed away in 1994. During World War II Mary Ann worked with her father at the Union Pacific Train Depot in Wamego as a telegraph operator.
Mary Ann was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1950 holding a variety of roles within the organization. As well as a passionate genealogist, Mary Ann traced her family back to the 1700’s. Always active, Mary Ann was a bowler and would never turn down a game of cards.
For Mary Ann, music was a lifelong love. She played the violin in her youth and loved the piano which she played up until her last days. She imparted a love of music to all of her children.
Mary Ann was the loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother of 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving family. Sister: Betty; Children: Sandra, Kenneth, Faye (Wade) and Donna (Stephen); Grandchildren: James (Jessica), Walter, Michelle, Amy, Cristy (Josh), Mary, Rachel, and Emily; Great Grandchildren: Shepherd, Shaman, Shine, May, Rachel, Jadyn, Isabella and Aurora.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray, her eldest son Michael, and her Great Granddaughter Adelyn.
Those who had the privilege of knowing her will miss her constant smile and sunny disposition as well as her contagious laugh.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Amos Family Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Please click Here to view the live-stream
She will be laid to rest in Wheaton Congregational Cemetery in Wheaton, Kansas the following day.
