Maurice Robert “Bob” Goodrich, Jr. passed away peacefully Sunday, December 29th at 3:40pm at Advent Health Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6th at 2pm at Nall Ave Baptist Church, with visitation at 1pm. A graveside service will be on Tuesday, January 7th at 1pm at Muncie Chapel Cemetery near Wheaton, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Nall Ave. Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
Mr. Goodrich was born on October 22nd, 1932, in Toronto, Kansas to Maurice and Mary Goodrich. He married Delores Stipp, also of Wheaton, on June 1st, 1952.
After spending 4 years in the Air Force as an aircraft radar interceptor operator, he was accepted into C.A.A./F.A.A. as an air traffic controller/supervisor. Most of his 35 years working for the F.A.A. was at the Federal Aviation Administration Center in Olathe, KS. After retiring from F.A.A., he was employed by Washington Consulting Group to train air traffic controllers for ten years.
Mr. Goodrich was a member of Nall Ave. Baptist Church for 63 years. He was a Deacon and was on numerous committees during his younger years. He was also a member of the “Plain Ol A’s” model car club and enjoyed his hobby.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of the home; one daughter, Debra Lynne of Austin, Tx; a son, Michael Goodrich and wife, Blanca of Kansas City, MO. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Janolyn Thornbrugh and husband, Tom and by his son-in-law Kevin Nichols.
Also surviving him are his five grandsons, Cameron Nichols and wife, Jamie, Grant Thornbrugh and wife, Laura, Garrett Thornbrugh and wife, Katie, Jacob Goodrich and step-grandson, Wilson Montufar. He is also survived by four granddaughters: Breanna Jesseph and husband, Luke, Michaela Masters and husband, Brandon, Kelsey Nichols and Keily Montufar and husband, Angel; six great-granddaughters Halle, Kyleigh, Eden, Addie, Finley and Ivy; and five great-grandsons Ashton, Hudson, Jackson, Jacob, Jr., and Keziah.
Maurice, also referred to as “Bob,” was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was kind, gentle, friendly and loved everyone. We shall miss him so very much, but look forward to once again having a family reunion.
