Maxine Virginia Pusch Tarson
March 11, 1931 – January 6, 2024
Lenexa, Kansas - Maxine Virginia Pusch Tarson was born in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of Hilda Meta Fuchs Pusch and Theodore Charles Pusch.
She graduated from Rosedale High School and attended Delmar College in Texas. She worked for Kansas City Power & Light, Nation Oil Field Supply, Avery Label, and Nestle’ USA.
Maxine was an avid bridge player who played in numerous bridge leagues, both competitive and social, throughout Kansas City, and organized many bridge clubs and holiday bridge evenings over her more than 60 years as a player.
She was a member of Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village for over 50 years, serving as church elder for 3 years, Stephen Minister for 10 years, Shepherd Deacon for 4 years, on the International Christian Youth Exchange Committee, in Adult Ministries, coordinated a round-robin bridge group for the church for 28 years, and was an active member of Mission Sewing for over 20 years.
Maxine was accomplished in sewing, embroidery, and fabric arts and was also a doll collector. She created hundreds of hand-sewn pieces for her children, grandchildren, and dolls.
She enjoyed travel, ballroom dancing, theater, symphony, jazz, and music performances throughout the metro area and was a devoted fan of the KC Chiefs and KU Basketball.
She is survived by her children David (Laurie) Dahms, Virginia Dahms, and Bryan (Paula) Dahms, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, sister-in-law, and son-in-law.
A memorial reception will be held at Lakeview Retirement Village at a future date. Maxine donated her body to the KU Medical Center.
