January 8, 1949 — June 28, 2012

Michael E. Carter, 63, Shawnee, Kansas, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, at his home with his family at his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born January 8, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Loris and Mary (Schwartz) Carter. He was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Miege High School and was a 1972 graduate of UMKC School of Pharmacy. He was united in marriage in 1971 to his high school sweetheart, Pam. He worked at Bethany Medical Center for 30 years, holding many management positions. After Bethany closed, he worked at Providence Medical Center for 10 years, retiring in 2011.

Some of his favorite things to do were his annual fishing trip to Canada and Friday night pokers games with friends. He always enjoyed entertaining friends and family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Pamela; son, Jeffrey (Mary); son, Matthew (Jennifer) and grandchildren, Ainsley, Ethan and Gage; as well as his sister, Pamela, brother, Charles (Jodi), and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-6 pm, Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church-Wea, 22779 Metcalf Road, Bucyrus, Kansas.

Memorial contribution may be made to Kansas City Hospice or in honor of his grandchildren to the Hemophilia Federation of America.
