Michael T. Dorris

Michael T. Dorris of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away Friday, May 6, 2011, at The Court at Overland Park following a long illness.

Mike was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and attended Brandywine High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. He received a Master's Degree from Memphis State University. Mike was the life of the party - he loved good food, good friends, family gatherings and fast cars, but most of all he cherished his wife and children. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ann Palmarella Dorris and Ralph W. Dorris, and by an infant son, Michael. Survivors include his wife, Judy Walker Dorris; sons, Hunter, Cody, and Grant; daughters, Shelby and Morgan; and sisters, Jeanne Dorris Bahnson, Sheila Sullivan, and Karen Dorris.

Mike’s family would like to extend a special thank you to The Court at Overland Park and Kendallwood Hospice for their tender loving care and support.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Mike will be buried with military honors at the Leavenworth National Cemetery during a private family service.
