Michael D. Douglas, 68, Shawnee, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
Michael was born August 14, 1941 in Gary, Indiana to Morris and Mary Cledith (Hall) Douglas. He graduated from Portage High School in 1961. Following graduation, Michael served in the US Army as a mail clerk and drill sergeant during the Vietnam War. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where he earned his Bachelor in Science degree and received his Masters in Education Administration from Texas A & I. Michael was working on his Doctorate at Kennedy Western University. He retired from the Kansas City, Missouri School District in 2008, after 15 years of dedicated service.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Christine (Wussow) Douglas; two sons, Michael Jay Douglas, his wife, Kelly, Millersville, Pennsylvania and Anthony Morris Douglas, Shawnee, Kansas; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Douglas Williams her husband, Timothy, Gary, Indiana and Rebecca Grace Douglas Duncan, her husband, Michael, San Diego, California; two brothers, Leonard Dennis Douglas, Chicago, Illinois and James Thomas Douglas, his wife, Timaree, Gary, Indiana.
Memorial Service
Memorial services will be 10:00 am Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Salem Lutheran Church, 9143 Haskins, Lenexa, Kansas. Cremation.
