Michael R. Dunn

Michael (Mikey) R. Dunn was born June 10, 1963, the first child of Marty and Donna Dunn. He grew up in Beaverdale, IA where he formed many lifelong friendships - he was the Tom Sawyer of the group. It wouldn't be unusual to find him running through the cornfield in his backyard chasing badger or racing his remote control cars with his dad.

He graduated from Johnston High School in 1981. In 1985, he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Iowa. He then settled in Kansas City and began his career in commercial lending.

In 1986 he was blessed with his first daughter Taylor Dunn Gardner. At Taylor's request, Mike married the love of his life, Kimberly Hanks Dunn in 1997. Two bundles of love and joy followed Megan Rylee Dunn born March 11, 1998 and Ginny Ryan Dunn born May 3, 2002. The family enjoyed traveling to fun and exciting places like Cancun, Costa Rica and Branson.

Mike had a very successful career at Collateral Mortgage, later Grandbridge Real Estate and had a singular passion for his work. In his free time, Mike loved to golf, tinkering and spending time with his family. Mike especially loved anything with a motor or anything can be controlled by a remote. Mike and Kim shared a wonderful group of friends. The main reason they included Mike was because with his eclectic personality you knew there would always be something exciting and unexpected happenings.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother, father and Uncle Tom Dunn of Leawood, KS. He is also preceded in death by his beautiful wife. He is survived by his 3 loving daughters, his aunt, Patti Kettler (Jack) of Leawood, KS and his brother David Dunn.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Immediately after the service, please join in celebrating Mike's life by toasting a glass of red wine (Mike's favorite) at Barley's Brewhause on Midland Drive where light appetizers will be provided.
