Overland Park

Michael David “Mike” Fuller of Overland Park, Kansas  passed on January 19th, 2022 at the age of 77.  He was preceded in death by his parents Roger Fuller and Alga Fuller.   He is survived by his loving family – wife Nedra Fuller, daughter Christi Utech (Bob), daughter Amiee Negron ( David), son Matt Fuller (Jennifer), granddaughter Hailey Utech,  grandson Max Fuller, step-grandchildren Madi  and Cooper Negron,  brothers Pat and Bill(Carla) Fuller, and four nieces and nephews.

Mike was born in Oklahoma City and attended Capitol Hill High School before finishing degrees at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Missouri.  He married the love of his life Nedra  Murdock  on June 28, 1964.  Subsequently, they raised three children and two grandchildren over their fifty seven years of marriage.

Mike was a brilliant engineer who spent his career working in national defense.  His enduring work continues to directly contribute to the safety of this nation.

Beyond his professional life, Mike was a constant tinkerer and do-it-yourselfer.  He was always the man to call with a tough problem.  His solution may have involved duct tape and blocks of scrap wood, or it may have involved a custom designed and built circuit board.  He always had a design, he always had a solution.

He was obsessively devoted to his family.  He never missed a school conference, play, or game and was easy to spot at these activities – he was the one in the suit – always.  He would never pass up the opportunity for a family barbecue, a road trip to see his family, or a quiet moment just to sit and talk.  It was in these times that he loved to throw out a pun or one of his signature running jokes (it must be Winds-day) that highlighted his dry sense of humor.

When not engaged with family, you could count on finding Mike at the lake.  His passion was sailing and he was an accomplished racer.  He was devoted to furthering the sport he loved,  serving on multiple boards of  local and regional organizations.  He was also a skilled instructor and trained an untold number of new sailing enthusiasts.

He was a loving husband, caring father, and devoted friend.  Beyond all, Mike was a kind, honest, loving and strong man who should serve as an example for us all.
We will honor and celebrate Mike as he would have wanted – on a warm day in the spring, by the lake, hopefully with a warm breeze blowing.  Those details to be forthcoming.
