Michael "Mike" Wesley Heuer, born on September 11, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 17, 2024, in Kansas City, Kansas, at the age of 73.
Mike was a devoted family man, a cherished friend, and a dedicated employee. He graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1970. He proudly served as a maintenance worker with Fort Leavenworth USD 207 for an impressive 46 years, where he was respected for his hard work and commitment.
Beyond his career, Mike was an avid reader and passionate traveler who loved to explore new places. He found peace in the tranquility of frequent fishing trips, joy in the music he created playing the guitar, and immeasurable happiness in the company of his beloved grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Heuer, his father, Harlan A. Heuer, and his mother, Mary Lou Heuer. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving family: his sister, Cynthia Heuer; his daughter, Kristin Heuer; his son, Michael J. Heuer; his granddaughter, Johanna Walker; and his grandson, John Walker, all of whom will miss him dearly.
The family invites friends and relatives to attend a visitation at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas on October 23, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM to celebrate Mike’s life. A private family graveside service will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.
