Michael John Stafos

January 8, 1951 — February 5, 2019

Michael J. Stafos was born on January 8, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas. He passed away on February 5, 2019 in Shawnee, Kansas.  He worked on his dad’s farm before joining the army and serving with the 101st airborne. After returning home from Vietnam he went back to work on the family farm. Following his dad’s passing and a flood destroying the farmland he went to work remodeling homes.

Until his health made it impossible, Mike was active in any way he could at Monticello Gospel Assembly and had been for the last 46 years. Whether it was playing in the band, remodeling various areas of the building, teaching Sunday school, or numerous other acts of love it brought him such joy to be a part of the church. He was quiet and reserved unless you talked with him about the things he loved; the Bible, his family, farming, or carpentry.  He is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Reva (Knight) Stafos, and brother George Stafos.  He is survived by his wife Judy (Wyrick) Stafos, children Amy (Jason) Indorf, Reva (Matthew) Durham, Rebecca (Jeremy) Weaver, David (Merissa) Stafos, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and siblings Janet (Dan) Santa Lucia, Roger Stafos, and Vickie Stafos along with so many other loved ones.

He treasured his family and was a steadfast example to them.  All who loved him dearly will never forget his faith, determination, wisdom, and unwavering love for them.
