Michael Devin Vickery

Michael Devin Vickery, 34, died on Friday, July 21, 2017, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. His death was unexpected.

Michael was born January 9, 1983 in Dallas, TX. He was a graduate of Pittsburg High School, KS. While at Pittsburg High, he was active in PHS Thespians, Ozark Soccer, Dragons Soccer, Track and Field, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble (French Horn), Marching Band (Mellophone), Choral Ensemble, and Boy Scouts of America. He attended First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Michael was a graduate of Pittsburg State University, with a B.S. in General Studies, psychology emphasis. At PSU, he was active in PSU Concert Band and the Pride of the Plains Marching Band. He was employed as a Senior Software Consultant at LockPath, and formerly employed at PlattForm Advertising. He composed music and had played keyboard professionally with the Kansas City band, Cold Crow. On September 9, 2016, Michael married the love of his life, Chunlan Debbie Guan, and celebrated their marriage with family and friends on October 9, 2016. During their engagement, they traveled together to Beijing and Chendu, China to meet Debbie's family. They honeymooned in Kauai. He enjoyed his work, travel, music, and friends, of whom he had many. He was known for his generous spirit and loving heart.

Michael is survived by his wife Debbie, mother and stepfather Stephanie and Frank Miller, father William E. Vickery, brother William R. Vickery, nephew Alex Vickery, maternal grandmother Patricia Winn, and paternal grandmother Annie Bowers. He was preceded by grandfather Robert W. Winn.

Visitation and Services

Funeral service starts at 3 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the Amos Family Funeral Home, Crematory & Chapels, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the same funeral home.
