Mickey L. Smith

Mickey L. Smith, 93, of Shawnee, KS was called home by the Lord on December 23, 2013.

Mickey was born January 11, 1920 in Kansas City, MO to Clarence and Olive Page. She served in the US Navy during WWII. On September 6th, 1947, she married John O. Smith, Jr. As an Air Force wife, Mickey lived all over the contry before settling in Yuba City, CA where she worked for Dr. Giertych as a Dental Assistant. While there she was an active member of her church and volunteered with the Red Cross and Family Services at Beale AFB, CA. She later moved to Shawnee to live with her family. Mickey had a real zest for life. She was always active, be it her volunteer work or her love of sewing and crafts. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who preferred to be called Nana because “Grandma” sounded old.

Mickey was preceded in death by her husband John Smith. She is survived by her daughter Terri DeBolt (Rick) of Shawnee, KS, by her grandchildren, Kristin Zinner (Josh), Kelly and Michael DeBolt. By great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Isaac Zinner. Memorial services will be held in California at a later date.
