Mildred “Elaine” Jones

March 6, 1941 — January 4, 2020

Mildred “Elaine” Jones passed  away Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at Hospice House of Kansas City.

Elaine Jones was born in Joplin Missouri on March 6, 1941 to Arthur Eugene and Mildred Lorene Lowe.   She graduated from Joplin High School in 1959.  After she was married, she later moved to Kansas City where she had 3 children and raised them.

As a child, Elaine loved music and enjoyed dancing, especially the Jitterbug.  Elaine was a model in high school and later modeled in Kansas City for several department stores.  Elaine also loved the sunshine and letting it in through the windows.  She loved her patio and flowers that surrounded her.  She will be remembered for her “sweet iced tea” and her “senior decaf coffee with 3 creams and 4 sugars”.   Elaine loved to watch old black and white movies, and she really enjoyed the Hallmark channel.  A few years ago she started a project in genealogy and it became a hobby for her.  She put together a large book for all her family with all her hard research.  Elaine will be most remembered as being the most loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin,  and Aunt, to all.  She put her heart into everyone around her.  Her home was a home that welcomed everyone with love.  She always had food ready to eat and good conversation.

Elaine is preceded in death by her son Mark Howard Millikan.  She is survived  by her husband of 45 years Frank Wilson Jones, her son Jeff (Becky) Millikan of Mission Kansas.  Her daughter Julie Jahn of Omaha, Nebraska, her grandchildren Allie (Ben) Lockwood of Topeka, Kansas, Sam Millikan (Rianne Lacarte) of New Orleans, Louisana,  Matthew Jahn, Daniel Jahn, Anna Jahn, Peter Jahn, and Paul Jahn of Omaha, Nebraska, and Heidi Carney of Lake Linden, Michigan, great grandchildren Silas and Vivian Lockwood of Topeka, Kansas, brother Arthur (Cheryl) Lowe of Kansas City, Kansas, and Teresa Lowe Jones (Adrian Jones) of St. Joseph, Missouri.

Visitation service will be Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Shawnee, with the funeral following at noon.  Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
