Mildred “Midge” Irene Turner

Mildred "Midge" Irene Turner, 76, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away at home on Sunday, August 25, 2013.

Midge was born on November 10, 1936, in Osceola, Missouri, to Marshall and Beaulah Houston. She married Merril Turner on February 22, 1955, and together they raised six children. She enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and most of all spending time with her family. Family gatherings, holidays and rocking grand babies topped her list of favorite things to do. She was a natural caretaker which made her an extraordinary mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was also a lifelong member of the women's auxiliary American Legion Post 327.

Midge is preceded in death by her husband, Merril; parents, Marshall Wilbur Houston and Beaulah May Sweeney Houston; and her siblings, Roy, Junior, Charles and Josephine.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Detmer, Bobi Kidd, Pam (Kim) Williamson, Allen Turner, Brian (Daryla) Turner, and Rodney (Lisa) Turner; grandchildren, Shawn, Josh, Kimberly, Crystal, Royal, David, Amanda, Karmon, Aric, Albert, Marshall, Trevor, Bopper, Kandise, Jessica, Steele and Randi; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Cole, Wyatt, Gage, Delaney, Alayna, Austin, Garrett, Bre, Christian, Natalie, Lucy, Dalton, Mason, Peyton, Emily, Brilyn, Caeli, and Nolan; and her siblings, Lillian and Bill.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013, with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., August 29, 2013, at Alder Cemetery in Arnica, Missouri. For directions to the cemetery, please click HERE.
