Milton Emory Choate

b. July 19, 1937

Milton Emory Choate, 80, passed away at Shawnee Mission Medical Center on Dec. 20th. Milton was born on July 19th 1937 to Emory and Alma (Duncan) Choate. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorothy (Dub) Jump and Ilene (Cheslie) Mincks, and brother, Eugene Mackey. He is survived by his wife Barbara, children; Mark Choate and Carrie (Rich) Carver, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, one sister Georgia Holm of Burley, Idaho, along with many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Milt was employed by Van's Food Center in Shawnee, Kansas for 38 years and was a proud member of The Retail Clerks Union. He always said he enjoyed his work and co-workers, but especially enjoyed all the customers who became friends. Milt was Produce Manager for many of those 38 years. Thanksgiving and Christmas always saw him back in the warehouse, putting together 1000's of beautiful fruit baskets, many for Corporate Functions. He was usually happy when the Holidays were over for a while. Milt was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1987. He retired from working in 1992 due to his physical limitations. Milt met this illness head-on and even through his struggles, never lost his sense of humor or his ability to enjoy life and family.

A visitation will be on Wed. Dec. 27th from 11 am-12 pm with a Funeral service following at 12 pm at Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66203. Burial will be at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
