Minnie Elizabeth Waite

September 18, 1936 — August 30, 2024

Overland Park

Minnie Elizabeth (Barnett) Waite, born on September 18, 1936 in Mammoth Springs, AR, passed away peacefully at her home in Overland Park, KS, on August 30, 2024, at the age of 87 due to natural causes.

Minnie dedicated her professional life to data entry, contributing her meticulous skills to several companies, including the IRS, TWA, World Span, and CSI.  Beyond her work, she found joy in life's simple pleasures.  She was an avid enthusiast of crossword puzzles, game shows, music, church, and could often be found cheering on the KC Royals, KC Chiefs, or enjoying a round of PGA Golf.  Her greatest passion, however, was doing for others, a testament to her loving and generous spirit.  She was a member of Abundant Life Church.

On September 21, 1951, in Harrison, AR, Minnie married the love of her life, Charles Waite.  Their union was a remarkable journey of love and companionship.  Together, they built a life filled with laughter, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to their family and faith.

Minnie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Walter and Georgia (Pentecost) Barnett; her cherished husband, Charles Waite; her brothers, Fred Ball, Glen Ball, James Barnett, Charles Barnett, and infant brother Walter, Jr.; and her sisters, Pearl Perkins, Ruby Idleman, Edna Williams, and twin sisters, Alice and Alma.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness through her surviving family; her devoted son, Michael Waite (Mary), her loving daughter, Cathy Everard (Joe), and her cherished grandson, Mark Waite.  She will also be deeply missed by her sisters, Ina Goddard and Norma Shirk (Harry); her dear friend who felt like a daughter, Nancy Burcham (Rob); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Minnie was a hardworking, loving, caring, humorous, and kind soul who would do anything to help anyone.  She was a devoted Christian and the best daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend one could be blessed to have in their life.

Visitation will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home on Thursday, September 5, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 pm, followed by a service beginning at 12:00 pm.  Burial will take place after the service at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery, with a dinner to follow at Abundant Life Church in Overland Park, KS.

Minnie Elizabeth (Barnett) Waite's gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of all who knew her.  She will be remembered with love and gratitude by her family, friends and community.
