Monte Lee Schaufler, Shawnee, Kansas died Thursday, December 18, 2008.
Monte was born May 31, 1931 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Carl and Margaret (Wertin) Schaufler. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph, Missouri and earned his BS degree at Northwest Missouri State College, Maryville, Missouri. Monte was an Air Force pilot and gunner during the Korean Conflict. He later became a regional sales director for Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology Nuclear Medicine. He also had a great love for cars and airplanes and was the National Historical Librarian for Alfa Romeo.
Monte was preceded in death by his wife, Melva (Heits) Schaufler on Dec. 15, 2007, his parents and sister, Dixie. Survivors include his two daughters, Lisa Schaufler, Clermont, Florida, Sara Schaufler, Lenexa, Kansas, and two grandchildren, Jessica and Nicholas Jordan, both of Lenexa, Kansas.
