Myrna S. Zimmerman

July 9, 1919 — October 24, 2015

Myrna Jane (Smith) Zimmerman, Olathe, Kansas, left this life October 24, 2015. She was born July 9, 1919, in Pardeeville, Wisconsin, daughter of Frank W. and Annie Elizabeth (Deakin) Smith. Myrna graduated from Pardeeville High School and received her R.N. from Evanston (Illinois) School of Nursing. She married Rev. Gordon I Zimmerman, Sr. on August 12, 1942, and began their life together in Pardeeville. She and Gordon later served Presbyterian churches in Audubon, Iowa and Fort Scott, Kansas, before retiring in Prairie Village and then Aberdeen Village in Olathe.

Mother of five, Myrna returned to nursing at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital in 1961, where she worked until retirement in 1982. Myrna was always active in her church and as a member of P.E.O. Myrna was a woman of quiet faith and strength, generous with her love to all. She was admired by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years. She is survived by her five children: Gordon Jr.(Gretchen), Reno, Nev.; Jane Nott (Dave), Tucson, Ariz.; Bruce (Jan), Overland Park, Kan.; William (Brenda), Gardner, Kan.; and Susan Grubbs (James), Payson, Ariz.; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Service

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3 at Southminster Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village with a reception to follow at the church.
