Myron Lester McNown, 87, Fairway, KS passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at the Brighton Gardens of Prairie Village Health Care Center. Myron was born Nov. 9, 1925 to Rossie and Bernerd McNown in Topeka, KS. He graduated from Wichita High School, entered the US Navy and was in flight training when WWII ended. Myron majored in music at KU and transferred to UCLA where he graduated with a violin performance degree. He then moved to Kansas City where he met his wife, Edythe. They were married on Dec. 27, 1954.
Myron worked as an insurance agent and was a founding member of the Kansas City Civic Orchestra. He played violin with the Kansas City Philharmonic for four seasons.
He served on the Fairway Homes Assn., a member of Second Presbyterian Church, the Salt and Pepper Club and Friend of the Art of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity.
He was preceded in death by mother, father and brother. Myron leaves behind, his beloved wife of 58 years, Edythe; two sons, Douglas and Gregory; daughter, Cindy; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Memorial Service
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at the Second Presbyterian Church, 318 E. 55th St., Kansas City, MO 64113.
