A rosary will beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, November 5th at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian burial at 11:30. She will be laid to rest at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Nancy was born January 31st, 1957 in Winchester, Massachusetts to John and Elfredia Keleher. She was second youngest and only daughter of four children. Her brothers from oldest to youngest are Kevin, Gary, and Johnny. Nancy and her family moved to St. Louis, Missouri as an infant where she attended Catholic grade school and a girl’s private high school. Nancy learned
at an early age that there are certain advantages to being the only girl in a family of brothers. For instance, if tempers flared when we were playing in the downstairs, she knew that her raised voice would bring her father running, asking what they did to her, even if she was the one at fault. She used that one for years.
Nancy graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1979 and returned to St. Louis where she began her career in business. Nancy met her husband Doug in St. Louis in 1990 and they were married in Ladue, Missouri on October 24th, 1992. They moved to the Kansas City area settling in Shawnee, Kansas in July of 1998. That same year Nancy began her new career with Children’s Health Association as their Facilities Manager. On February 7th, 2001 Doug and Nancy welcomed their son Colin Alexander into the world. Without a doubt, apart from her wedding day the happiest I ever saw Nancy was on the birth of her son, Colin and that happiness and pride extended throughout the rest of her life. Being a mom was her highest calling and greatest achievement.
Nancy along with Doug and Colin was a devout parishioner at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Shawnee where she frequently gave her time, talent, and treasure. Nancy retired from work in 2015 and thereafter dedicated her time and energy to help Colin excel in school and life. Colin is a great testament to Nancy’s dedication to him. More than anything in the world, Nancy loved being a mom. She loved her family, her Church, and her faith. She loved people, helping others, socializing, and bringing smiles to people’s faces. All characteristics that made her a strong and beautiful woman inside and out.
She loved to travel, but she also loved being at home just sitting in the sun in the backyard. Nancy had a true love for animals, country music, cooking, cleaning, politics, working out, chick flicks, flowers and cards. Nancy knew everyone’s birthday and anniversary by heart. Nancy’s most enduring characteristic will always be her smile which never left her beautiful face. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Doug and her son Colin.
