Nancy Ann (Vogrin) Lichtenauer

Nancy Ann (Vogrin) Lichtenauer, 90, of Overland Park, KS passed away on June 1, 2023.  She was born on March 5, 1933 in Kansas City, KS to Herman H. and Florence A. (Lane) Vogrin.

Nancy was married to Anthony P. Lichtenauer in June, 1953 with whom she raised 5 children.  She graduated from Bishop Ward High School, then went to work at Southwestern Bell Telephone, and later after raising her children she worked for the U.S. Government at I.R.S. and Bureau of the Census until retirement.

Blessed with many years of retirement, she derived most of her joy in life from her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, many of whom spent time with her week in and week out.  Her favorite place on earth were the mountains of Colorado, where she vacationed at Estes Park, multiple times a year, as well as being “on the road” to just about anywhere in this beautiful country, seeing sites, visiting family or friends when she could, stopping for ice cream, and even taking in a concert, casino, or air show along the way.  Almost as much as anything else, she lived for her K.U. Basketball, and her Chiefs!  “Game Day” was her best day of any week.  She also kept busy “painting” and playing games on her tablet and stayed engaged with everyone through, text, facetime, and social media.  She was a modern woman!

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Hank Vogrin, and George Vogrin.

She is survived by her best friend, Jackie Kapeller, all of her 5 children: Kathy Lichtenauer, Phillip Lichtenauer (Jill), Cheryl Ford (Ken), Marcia Brown, Diane Northup (Curt), brothers, Phillip Vogrin, William Vogrin, and sister, Mary Jane Littleton, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held to celebrate her life on Thursday, June 8th at Church of the Holy Cross in Overland Park, Kansas from 10:00 – 11:00 with Mass immediately following.
