Nancy was born November 9, 1932 to the late Everett and Ann Brisley in Marshall, MO. She attended Marshall high school and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Missouri Valley College in 1954. While attending college she married Howard Ziegenhorn on May 29, 1953. Professionally, Nancy was an educator of 21 years, teaching creative writing and English Literature. She was very much beloved by her high school students.

Nancy was extremely proud of her flowers and enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her garden. She was an avid bicyclist, loved walking, enjoyed tennis and was a zealous world traveler. Nancy was also an enthusiastic reader and particularly enjoyed contemporary fiction and poetry. She was passionate about her 23 year 2nd career as a docent for for the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. She also was a member of the Friends of the Shawnee Indian Mission.

She felt blessed in the life she created for herself and her wonderful, loving family who fondly referred to her as “Mia”.

Nancy is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Thomas and brother, William Brisley. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Howard Ziegenhorn; a son, Eric Ziegenhorn; two daughters, Pauline Ziegen and Leslie Ziegenhorn; a granddaughter, Zoe Ziegenhorn; grandson, Zachary Ziegenhorn and sister, Joanne Brookover.

Memorial Service

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203. Light reception for family members to follow service.
