Nellie Lucille (Goff) Doolin

Nellie Lucille Doolin, 76, our beloved wife, mother, and Granny, passed peacefully at her home with her husband and son by her side on December 24, 2022. Nellie was born in Chillicothe, MO on October 13, 1946 to Merlin and Mabel (Harvey) Goff.  She graduated from Manuel High School in Kansas City, MO in 1964. At 14, she met the love of her life, Jimmy Doolin. They were married June 8, 1963, and started their lives together in Kansas City, MO prior to moving to their current residence in Overland Park, KS. Their son, Vincent, completed their family. They attended the United Methodist Church. Nellie retired from Shawnee Mission Medical Center where she devoted 32 years as a unit secretary. She enjoyed traveling, especially with her family. Their favorites were skiing in Colorado, waterskiing at the many lakes, and watching her grandkids play in the ocean. Her grandkids were her whole world. She loved to shop with her granddaughter and attend her grandson’s sports activities. She was very much loved by her two grandchildren, Zachary and Alexa Doolin.

Nellie is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Wilbur Goff, and her nephew, Merlin Sullins. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Doolin, her son, Vincent (Sara) Doolin of Olathe, KS, sisters, Mary Burton of Independence, MO and Cheryl (Larry) Anthony of Lebanon, MO, nieces Vickey (John) Hamblen of Kearney, MO and Sherry Burton of Oak Grove, MO, a nephew Terry (Debbie) Sullins of Olathe, KS, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Please join us in honoring her life and memory. Visitation will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home from 5-6pm on Thursday, December 29, 2022. Funeral services will follow beginning at 6pm. Gathering will follow at the American Legion in Shawnee, KS.
