Nick Del Percio departed this life on April 11, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Angelo Del Percio of Volturara Arpina, Italy; his beloved mother, Josephine (Marra); brothers Bill and Mike; and many of his lifelong friends.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Margaret Lucille (Connor); brothers, Vincent and Victor; sister, Filomena Trzok; children, Michael Del Percio, Kathleen Cansler, Richard Del Percio, and Donna Lewallen; and 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and 18 nieces and nephews.

A lifelong Catholic and Kansas City, Kansas, resident, Nick grew up on Strawberry Hill as a member of St. Mary's Parish and was a graduate of Bishop Ward High School, class of 1937. Nick excelled in athletics, with his favorite sports being baseball, basketball, and boxing.

Nick began a 30-year career at Chrysler Corporation in 1945. In 1954, he moved from Strawberry Hill to western Wyandotte County where he became a member of Christ the King Parish. Nick retired in 1975 as a member of the management staff at Chrysler Corporation's plant in Fairfax, Kansas.

After retiring, Nick spent much of his time golfing and traveling with his wife Lucille. Nick and Lucille's favorite travel destinations were Estes Park, Colorado, Las Vegas, Nevada, and San Francisco, California. While traveling, Nick did extensive hiking and climbing. His favorite hikes and climbs included Long's Peak in the Rocky Mountains, The Grand Canyon, and the Mojave Desert/Death Valley areas. Nick now goes to join his parents, other family members and friends. He takes with him the love, respect and admiration of those he leaves behind.

Nick asked us to convey his thanks and love to all of many family members and friends for their years of love and friendship. The family would like to thank Providence Place and Catholic Community Hospice of Northeast Kansas for the care given to Nick. Thanks also to Amos Family Funeral Home and Catholic Cemeteries.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Respecting one of Nick's last requests, all services will be for family only. The visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2011, followed by a Catholic Prayer Service at 1:00 p.m., all at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
