Norma Jean Elliot-Stalcup, fondly known as "Jean," was born on March 5, 1944, in Kansas City, MO, and peacefully passed away on February 1, 2025, in Shawnee, KS, at the age of 80. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and inspiration.
Jean's life was marked by dedication and love, both in her career and personal pursuits. She devoted 30 years to AT&T, excelling in various roles and touching countless lives with her professionalism and warmth. Her career was a testament to her commitment and resilience, qualities that inspired those around her.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jean was known for her love of gardening, shopping, KC Chiefs, and KU Basketball. She even enjoyed watching golf, a past time she and her dad shared. She cherished time spent with family and friends. Jean's home was always open, filled with laughter, love, and a welcoming presence.
Her compassionate spirit led her to volunteer at the KU Cancer Center for 14 years, offering comfort and strength to those in need. Jean's generous heart extended to all living beings; she was an ardent animal lover and took great pleasure in being a "fur baby" babysitter for her friends’ pets.
Jean was preceded in death by her loving parents, John A. Michalik and Edith L. Michalik, as well as her devoted husband, Charles H. Stalcup, Jean's legacy will continue through her surviving family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tammy (Elliot) Crutchfield, and her spouse, Mark Crutchfield; her son, Tim Elliot, and his spouse, Patti Elliot; her treasured grandchildren, Marlana Elliot, Luke Crutchfield, and Marissa Elliot; her great-grandson, Louis (Elliot) Halligan; and her sister, Virginia Steeby, along with numerous friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Visitation for Jean will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm, Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Amos Funeral Home. Norma will be laid to with a private graveside service being held at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Jean's family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or a local animal shelter, reflecting her dedication to causes close to her heart.
Jean was a wonderful person who gave so much of herself to others. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know her.
