Norma F. Wright, 80, of Shawnee passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2015.
Norma was born on November 28, 1934 to Charles and Lena Rice in
Keytesville, Missouri. She lived several different places in Missouri
and Kansas until the family settled in Shawnee in the 1940s. Norma
graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School. In 1962, Norma married Jerry Wright and they had their first child Craig, in 1963. After Jerry retired from the Navy, Norma and Jerry built a house on the 5 acres Norma had bought in Shawnee, next to the house her parents had built. Their second son Chris was born in 1968. Norma spent her life as a homemaker taking care of her sons and her parents. Norma was a member of the Lenexa Baptist Church.
Norma was preceded in death by her father, Charles Daniel Rice, her mother, Lena Sara Rice, her husband Jerry Albert Wright and her brother John Daniel Rice.
Norma is survived by sons Craig Albert Wright (and Stacy) of Derby, Kansas, Chris Daniel Wright (and Cyndi) of Sierra Vista, Arizona and her step daughter Jeri Ann Sandbach (and David) of Longmont, Colorado. Norma also has five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The Wright family will receive friends and relatives from 11-12 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, KS, Monday April 6, 2015. A service will be held at 12 p.m. following the visitation. Burial will immediately follow the service at Johnson County Memory Garden Cemetery in Overland Park, Kansas.
The family requests memorials in Norma’s name to be sent to the Lenexa Baptist Church.
