Ophelia Daffron

Ophelia (Phil) Daffron, 92, of Overland Park, KS, passed away November 27, 2016 at her daughter's home in Snellville, Georgia. Born to George and Soledad Ramirez, in Utopia, Kansas, Phil was one of nine children. Phil married Bud Daffron in 1947 and they had a daughter, Jean Marie. Jean married Gene Suender and you'd often hear Phil talking about her three grandsons, Jay, Jeff and Jared. As "Winter Texans," in South Padre Island, TX, they were regulars at the "shed" by the pool, Louie's Backyard Grille, and Port Isabel's American Legion. Phil's faith, a central part of her life, was lived out as a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary, where she enjoyed Mass and her rosary group. She was active in Meals on Wheels for over 25 years and served our nation's veterans through the Women's Auxiliary at the American Legion. Phil brought tremendous joy to others through her baking, hospitality and servant's heart.

Funeral Service will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. and the service will immediately follow; burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends are invited to a luncheon at the American Legion, 7500 West 75th St. Overland Park.
