Patricia Rae Fox, aged 88, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, in Olathe, Kansas. Born on January 5, 1936, in Overland Park, Kansas, Patricia led a life marked by dedication to her family, community, faith and numerous passions.
Patricia enjoyed a distinguished career, retiring as an office manager at Campbell, Barber, Lambeth & Assoc, Engineering. She also served as the sexton of Antioch Pioneer Cemetery for over 50 years, a testament to her commitment and attention to detail.
Her interests were varied and rich; she was particularly fond of restoring antique dolls and creating porcelain dolls, and she had a lifelong love for all things related to foxes. Her hobbies were an extension of her creative and caring nature, notably her piano and organ playing.
Patricia was an active member of several esteemed organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Colonies. She also contributed significantly to the Overland Park and Paola Historical Societies. A longtime member of the Miami Presbyterian Church, she served faithfully as an elder, secretary, and treasurer, exemplifying her deep faith and sense of service.
In 1975, Patricia met Joseph W. Fox, and they married on October 8, 1977, at the First Baptist Church of Shawnee. Their union was blessed with five daughters from Joe’s previous marriage: Cynthia A. (Richard D.) Kitts, Jennifer L. (Fred L.) Stein, Christine M. (Glen T.) Cahill, Wendy D. Corona, and Julie K. Fox. They moved to Foxhill Farm in Paola in 1984, where they built a loving home together. Patricia’s legacy includes her cherished eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and brother. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph W. Fox, her five daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nieces and great nieces, along with a host of dear friends and extended family who will miss her profoundly.
Services to honor Patricia's life will be held on Monday, September 9, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM at Amos Family Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Antioch Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Miami Presbyterian Church, located at 33110 Switzer Road, Paola, Kansas, 66071. The congregation will be profoundly affected by her absence.
Patricia Rae Fox will be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family, her faith, her community, and her many interests. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
