Patricia Ann “Patty” Karnes

January 29, 1948 — October 10, 2013

Patricia Ann Karnes, 65 of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Olathe Medical Center.

Patty was born January 29, 1948, to the late Robert and Lois Mick in Topeka, Kansas. Patty was a lifelong Johnson County resident, and is a member of Shawnee Mission North class of 1966. After graduating high school Patty went to work for Southwestern Bell as a Drafts person, and continued her career with Sprint before retiring in 2004. On May 18, 1968, she married David E. Karnes in Shawnee, Kansas.

Patty was a very involved and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the host of all the family gatherings. Patty enjoyed baking cakes and cookies for family gatherings, birthdays, weddings and holidays. She was a very caring and charitable person, and always put the needs of others and her family before her own.

Patty is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David; her children, Tracy A. Rathbun and husband Charles, and Michael E. Karnes and wife Justine; two brothers, Ronald C. Mick and wife Martha and Dennis W. Mick; a sister, Linda S. Burke; six grandchildren, Evan Boxler, Brooke A. Boxler, Wesley Rathbun, Emma Rathbun, Kolt M. Schwab and wife Jodie, Kameron Dingus; a sister in law, Betty Nance and husband Larry; two great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation and Services

A visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of Patty's life will follow the visitation at 7 p.m.
