Patricia J. Mertz

Pat Mertz, 73, of Shawnee, KS, passed away, Saturday, February 14, 2015 at her home.

Pat was born in Galesburg, IL and had live in the Kansas City area since 1964. She was a claims authorizer for the Social Security Administration 27 years before her retirement in 1991. She was active in the Social Security Alumni. She married Leo Mertz, May 9, 1987. He survives at the home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Othello and Margaret Carroll, a step-daughter, Cheryl Williams, a brother, Raymond Carroll, and a sister, Rosemarie Carlson; Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Diane Capparelli, Cindy Rogers, Keith (Sean) Rogers, and Wendy (Gary) Worley; grandchildren, Alicia Worley, Nicholas, and Maria Capparelli; step children, Steve Mertz, Kelly (Tony) Lloyd, and Sandra (Kevin) Mertz; brothers, Bernard (Emily), Paul (Colleen), and Larry (Wilma) Carroll; 12 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions to the Sjogren's Syndrome Association, Gentiva Hospice, or the American Diabetes Association.
